The first lesson must get young students playing right away, and to do this they need the basics--like the pattern of black and white keys, left and right hands, how to refer to each finger, high and low notes on the piano, and keeping a steady beat. "Down by the Station" provides one more piece, along with "Au Clair de la Lune" and "Chopsticks," to learn these concepts before introducing the staff.
