Ode to Joy

This melody comes from the last movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, one of the most famous pieces of music ever written. What makes it extra impressive is that Beethoven wrote it after he had gone completely deaf — he never actually heard it performed. Today the tune is so beloved that it's used as the official anthem of the European Union.
