Hey, it's Christmas Day!

This joyful Polish carol has been sung at Christmas for a very long time--the earliest known printed version comes from an 1843 collection of Polish carols, though the tune itself is probably older still. It's cheerful enough that the composer Witold Lutosławski included his own arrangement of it in a well-known 1946 collection of Polish Christmas carols. If you enjoy discovering carols from outside the usual American and British favorites, this one is a lovely, lively example of the Polish Christmas tradition.
