The First Noel

“The First Noel” is one of the oldest Christmas carols still sung today, with roots in medieval England or France. The word “Noel” is simply the French word for Christmas. The melody rises and falls in a wonderfully natural, singable way, which is probably why this carol has survived for so many centuries. It tells the timeless story of the shepherds and the Wise Men following the star of Bethlehem.
