Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

The melody of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” comes from a French tune published in 1761, and Mozart wrote a famous set of piano variations on it. The familiar English words about stars were added by the poet Jane Taylor in 1806. It’s one of those rare tunes that appeals equally to toddlers and to great composers, which says something about how perfectly it’s put together.
